Governance & Structure Division

The Governance and Structure Division supports the work of local governments in three areas:

1. The Advisory Services Branch advises on complex local government issues and provides relevant, timely and high quality advice about the local government system.
    
2. The Community Relations Branch supports the building of harmonious and productive relationships between local and First Nations governments, and supports the economic and social development of communities through client focussed programs.
    
3. The Local Government Structure Branch is responsible for overseeing the restructure of local governments in the province, including municipal boundary extensions and the incorporation of new municipalities.
